Melba College boasts a strong debating culture with individuals and teams having claimed State Champion and State Runner-up titles in the Debaters Association of Victoria (DAV) Schools Competition.

Debating is an outstanding way to boost confidence and develop skills in:

• public speaking
• collaboration
• communication, influencing and persuading
• critical thinking, problem solving, analysis and synthesis
• research and writing

The program also promotes social engagement with students and teachers at Melba and from other schools.

• Years 9-12 students can participate in the DAV Ringwood Region Program
• Years 7-8 students can opt into the DAV Junior Secondary Program. Melba College hosts this event.

Each team works closely with a coach (teacher) and experienced student mentors.

All students are welcome to benefit from the learning afforded in this academic and socially vibrant forum.
